Hey guys, it's Stef here, I'm a 2nd yr CompSci student with a love for live music, and the hardest working Codex subscription in Dunedin.

This all started after I missed a gig because I didn't see it advertised anywhere (until it made the news). I realised it didn't feel like theres any centralized event/gig guides that I could always trust to show me what's on, so I made this. It's only a passion project so go easy on it, but the goal for this website is to showcase how much awesome stuff we constantly have going on here in Dunners, and how lucky we all are.

Whats the goal?

For my fellow breathers to never miss a single one of the amazing gigs we have here in Dunedin.

What makes StefsGuide different?

Normal guides are manual, every event has to be submitted by hand. This guide is automatic and takes no human input, hypothetically it should never miss anything.

Why did you make this?

Mostly cause I was bored, but check out the About section for more info.

Why the pirate theme?

Spoken like a true landlubber..

How does this work?

The server first scrapes a list of source websites for data, then runs it through an LLM to extract event data. A little clean up later and voila!

What sources do you use?

I use every major event guide, and the "What's on" pages of venues throughout Dunedin. My goal is not to miss any events!

Theres a mistake in an event?

Unfortunatley LLM's are bound to make mistakes. Sometimes it grabs data from adjacent events, or just makes shit up. Please check out the events actual site to confirm details.

Is this scraping legal?

ChatGPT tells me it is lmao, if you think your website is a source and you want it removed please get in contact :)
